E;R, as always, is saying exactly what I thought. It could have been an okay movie, but it was way over the top with the spelled-out metaphors and the sexualization of a 13 year old girl.
He's also the first person I've seen that noticed how skeezy it was to have this girl making money by selling "panda pics" (actual terminology used in the movie), where the panda is an allegory for puberty and/or womanhood. I don't know if the creators were just too stupid to notice how they're basically having their main character selling child porn or if they did it on purpose, but either way I really can't believe how few people even noticed let alone got upset about it.
I mean, I was talking about the "panda pix" creepiness pretty much the day the movie dropped. It's pretty much why I've said the movie isn't made for 13 year old girls. It's made for 30 year old millennials women who want to validate themselves because "sEx WoRk Is ReAl WoRk!"
No, they're just women.
Its Disney, it was on purpose.
