Doubt many people care but Cringetopia is the next up on the chopping block. No doubt because we allowed trannies to be posted mostly just their own stupid tiktoks.
They started off banning us in batches with no to very little explanation. No they have moved to sitewide banning us again with no explanation. They've banned several people on the mod team just for being mods there
I got banned first for banning a pedophile who admitted to being a pedophile but apparently I was not allowed to call the guy a pedophile.
The next and final ban was yesterday when a user got mad that I quoted Joe Biden calling black people niggers in response to his attempt to downplay Biden's explicit racism because I dont particularly like being called racial alurs especially by the president. He then posted my username on another sub in an attempt to harrass me. A mod of that sub joined in his efforts and mass reported me resulting in a sitewide ban.
Yeah. I get that cross pollination won't happen if there are multiple sites that the user base flees to, and that's regrettable...
I also look at the way centralized control through admins and mods turned into a prime target for ideological subversion, and think that trying to subvert 100 small diasporic reddit clones will be much harder than subverting one site ready to do an IPO. There are downsides to decentralization, but resistance to subversion is an upside worth considering.
What we need is centralized search hubs that help people discover forums across the Internet, and a centralized ID that lets you move your profile across sites without registering. (if you so choose)
I was hoping communities.win could be that with all the custom domains we have here, and they would just provide the software or API with optional hosting, but now they are focusing on being a reddit clone and are apparently moving away from custom domains.
Yeah the head mod wanted an independent domain that he owns himself
