I’m so sick of the breathless reporting of that Michigan state senator who “pushed back” against grooming charges. Of course the media is falling all over her. I couldn’t even find a rebuttal article. They claim it’s to help marginalized (hate that word) lgbt groups.
Makes me wonder about a person who is so eager to talk about sex to kids outside of the beware of strangers talk. I graduated in 99 and never had any lgbt courses. Don’t think I missed anything. I was free to research on my own if I so desired.
Yes you should "wonder" about these people. This is common sense. They are conditioning people to stop asking questions and having healthy suspicion, giving an opening to dangerous creatures. The pervert isn't the creepy old man hiding behind a tree, it's the friendly priest, teacher, cartoonist, and pediatrician. That's where the kids are.
Yep. I’ve done some work with the kids at church and you have to go through a ton of training. And maybe I was overly cautious but I made sure to be kind and helpful but kept an appropriate distance
Really?
I volunteered to work with kids at my kids' school and there was zero training.
I had to get a criminal record check (lowest clearance, out of my own pocket, I might add), but after that they let me pretty much do whatever I wanted. I took small groups of kids to the library or resource rooms for projects (cooking, computers etc), they put me with one or two kids making snacks in the kitchen, once they let me talk out of my ass about gender roles to my daughter's first grade class for a whole morning.
I worked as a lunch supervisor for a while and my "training" was basically "stop them from killing each other". Minimum wage, btw. They didn't even provide materials on safety protocols, school rules, how I could discipline the kids, nothing.
If I was a groomer who hadn't been caught, it would have been so easy to convince kids to meet me somewhere after school (it's a neighborhood with lot's of shitty parents).
Schools are excellent environments for hiding abuse.
I can imagine. This was for vacation Bible school and I had a group of third graders. I also had to do things like escort them to the bathroom so I stood outside the door. But we had a background check as well that the church paid for
