I remember in the early 00s there was a commercial from a Christian group where a man talked about how the Lord brought him out of the gay lifestyle. The commercial was removed due to outrage from the usual crowd.
Not trying to start a theological debate but if they say all this stuff is fluid and someone can be heterosexual and one day just say he/she is gay and be totally accepted then why not the other? Or with trans. If a 5 year old claims to be opposite sex we have to take their word for it but adults who are express regret are not to be believed?
Take a drug addict for example. They try crack, it feels good, and they 'identify' as a drug addict. It's possible for them to replace the craving with a different addiction like exercise or a craft, but they're always considered a drug addict because normal is the default and can't replace another label.
Do you have any memory of being normal? Maybe boring, but nobody has a memory of being normal because it's a lack of something unusual. Like proving a negative, you can't have a memory of something that didn't happen.
With this gay fad, you have people who's Scouts leader jerked them off, it felt good, and so they 'discovered' their sexuality. Even though the ones that are just dopamine addicts could replace that with a normal sex addiction that'll never displace the abnormal.
Put in an abstract way, say normal is 0. You have an abnormal -1 experience where your Scouts leader abused you, can you ever get back to 0 by averaging in new experiences? No, you can have any number of regular encounters, but you'll only approach 0 as in a mathematical limit; you can only be normal again after an infinite number of normal encounters.
...this is why it's so crucial to stop this abuse of children, because damage like that can never be fully healed.

It's because normal is not an identity.

Saw a recent study where a supermajority of gay male respondents reported that they lost their virginity between the ages of five and 14.
Age five was not an outlier - it was crisp actually one of the bigger spikes on the entire graph.
Does this mean every gay man was basically raped as a child? Of course not.
Just two thirds of them.
Are you going to link the study?
