It's not even a good game to begin with, and they rewrote things for "sensitivity" purposes? Dead in the water.
EDIT: Actually read some of those reviews. Apparently the remaster itself runs poorly for many. How do you fuck that up with such an old game at a higher display quality?
Never played it but I remember how the early 2000s era internet worshipped it and Mother, another SNES JPRG.

Mother is an unfinished mess that everyone tries to forget existed. Are you sure you're not thinking of Earthbound, AKA Mother 2?
They re-released Mother 1+2 for the gba and it’s pretty good, added a whole lot of qol fixes, a run button, etc,. theres a translation patch for the rom out there somewhere.
