I wonder what the full story is. Also any media wringing their hands about “gender affirming care” is not to be trusted.

Anyone who call literal genital mutilation "gender affirming care" should not be tolerated in society.

It's typical doublespeak, the phrase makes it sound they reassure the person that their biological gender is correct and they're fine.

When what they actually mean is the opposite.
