Since I get nerdy stuff across my feed still (what I haven't blocked) I came across one of the many "your hobby has always been woke/political" articles that make that argument and it was mainly praising the race/gender swaps in upcoming comic book movies and talking about how excited she was for America Chavez.
I tried to ignore it, but couldn't resist leaving a comment asking if all these books/comic books were always woke then why do they need to be "updated for a modern audience" (which is a phrase I have learned to hate). Also I asked if any of these people actually read comic books because America Chavez was not a successful character but I remember hearing they wanted her to be the next Spider-Man popularity wise.
The only response I got was something accusing me of gatekeeping and I was mad that straight white males are losing the spotlight. I simply responded with my same question if they actually read comic books to begin with
They literally are NPCs. They have no arguments, only pre-programmed buzzwords.
Comics or games aren't their hobbies. They're only a means to an end for their actual "hobby": forcing their politics down the throat of others.
they always talk about "wanting to make such and such hobby for a wider audience" yet they only ever go after things that already have established audiences and never talk about wanting to "fix" things that arent popular and dont have an audience.
Exactly. This is why I question motives now. Like when they hire some rabid feminist to write a comic book or a race hustler and instead of talking about what comics they read growing up or their love of the industry it’s always some lecture about diversity or how the hobby needs fixing
