It's unfortunate that these media hype men have bred out their 'shame' gene. I'd be looking forward to them getting comeuppance, but it seems they'll never experience the guilt of being so wrong on so much and feel the least bit bad about it.

Unironically yes. They think it's ok when they do it. If an "opposition leader" happens to be in charge at the time, they might say the country is sliding into despotism even if there is nothing linking the leader to the killing. When the establishment party is in charge, political assassinations are ignored or treated as random isolated incidents.
