Are you sure? After all he did just authorize the fly over of Sweden and Japan airspace in the last couple of days.
Yes, I'm sure. The entire point of this invasion is that if Ukraine joins NATO it would become impossible to use force to stop Ukraine doing things like letting the united states install missile sites. Russia cannot take on NATO. Russia knows it. NATO knows it. And the Ukrainian puppet regime knows it which why they keep lying to try to get NATO involved or to get Russia to attack a NATO country (like when they falsely claimed Poland was allowing missions to be flown out of their country, or when they falsely claimed that Russia was firing missiles at a Nuclear reactor). If you actually paid attention to the reasons this invasion happened instead of swimming in western propaganda you'd be able to make more accurate predictions of the future.
If that were the case, why none of the new signatories have nukes in them? And those countries have no right to defend themselves against Russia? They suffered under Russia. Have you forgotten about communism? And if we use your logic, should the current nato countries do the same and request a buffer zone against Russia?
Russia invaded Ukraine because of oil, shale gas deposits, tariffs over the pipeline, and the restoration of the soviet hegemony. Stop eating Russian propaganda. They even use on their official statements video game footage.
Ideally they would form their own strategic alliance. The Russian Touchers Strategic Alliance wouldn't threaten Russia but would also have sufficient resources to jointly defend against Russia. And it would behoove both NATO and Russia to keep them denuclearized. Unfortunately we don't live in that world so here we are.
Those countries have no funds for it. And even if they formed it, how would you guarantee that Russia wouldn't view them the same way they do now?
