I'm becoming convinced there's a brain parasite going around that makes people do that. I've seen people do it in a professional setting, like internal company communications. It's atrocious.
I admit to doing it in internal company communications because we have a chat system, and I use reaction pics to comments. This is because when I type I have so many problems communicating tone, particularly emotional tone to women, that I have made them actually cry.
Also, a thumbs up reaction is faster than typing "ok" or "thx".
Yeah, sure, but that's different. I keep seeing people do the same as in the OP tweet - a word followed by an emoji of that word. It's insanely obnoxious.
