Of course, geniuses don't generally take 7 years to finish a 4 year degree. But the government guaranteed student loans make a very reliable siphon of taxpayer funds to keep those coffers full.

I think the point they were trying to make is that it is a small school, and they don't take every extraordinary student. But it sure came off wrong.
This is actually something that has come up with my management at my company. We've basically agreed that University degrees basically don't mean shit, and doesn't tell us if a potential employee is a good worker, knowledgeable in their craft, or can work in a team.
The only reason we care about colleges is so we can offer internships. Working with the interns gives us the time to basically train them up to where they need to be.
I've repeatedly told people that College isn't worth it unless you have to go to get licensed.
