Does this person not realize these algorithms have been crafted to do the opposite? You can't even talk about 2020 election rigging, and criticizing the shots or lab leak theory can be very dangerous. "Authoritative Sources" have a heavy bias in their favor in search algorithms and trending results. Many of them pay left wing "fact checkers," and run disclaimers on the pages of anything that goes against the narrative.
That's the thing about the broken minds of these shitlib communists - they only need to have one "fact", no matter how long ago it was or how incorrect it now is perceived, to hinge an entire argument on.
Notice how the guy keeps talking about the 'alt-right'. Nobody has said fuck-all about the "alt-right" in like four years. It was invented by a dude who endorsed Biden. Nobody can actually even define it. Alt-right was a pre-Trump term, and even the SPLC doesn't have a single quote about it any more recent than 2016.
They still cling to 'muh Russia' and 'inject bleach' and 'fine people', because in their world it's still real.
To them the "social media rabbit hole" is still real, even though Youtube, Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook has banned almost everything conservative that isn't Ben Shapiro, and all the algorithms are engineered to completely eliminate any possible exposure. You can't even use Google anymore without it all being curated.
Did you ever notice how they still bitch about the NRA? The NRA has been completely irrelevant for the better part of a decade. The NRA has accomplished absolutely nothing post-Sandy Hook. They've won no battles. They lobby no laws. They've been shamed and abandoned by most gun owners and have embarrassed themselves repeatedly. But these idiots will still bitch about how the NRA is a 'terrorist organization' and every time the topic of guns comes up, that's all they can say. None of them have updated their brains with the new software that includes things like the SAF or GOA.
Every argument with a shitlib rehashes the same stupid fucking nonsense you've seen them kvetching about for literally over 15 years straight. It's the exact same crap about 'reality has a liberal bias'.
But somehow they're convinced they aren't in the cult. They're still crying about Richard Spencer, but everyone else is in a cult.
I don't think the algorithms are doing all of that yet. I think some search results and "trends" are manually manipulated. The only thing social sites seem capable of automating is flagging key words to insert their "get ackshual facts here" disclaimer. Otherwise, they probably rely on jannies and useful idiots to report and effectively ban content from one side of the conversation.
Some people analyzed YouTube recommendations a few years ago.
One analysis charted the number of views required to trend for various channels. Mainstream consistently needed far lower views to trend, like how PBS needed only 10,000.
Another compared the "similar" recommendations be political bias. The amount of left wing content was substantially larger, but it also recommended less to left/center channels than the reverse.
You also have the banning of certain channels or terms. Steven Crowder noticed this, since you couldn't even search for one of his videos unless you typed in the complete name of the video AND his name.
"Authoritative sources" are also almost definitely going to fill the first page of many search results if its related to politics. Same goes for google search.
They even removed publicly viewing downvotes for political reasons.
There was also the "van life" trend, that started being recommended out of nowhere, starting with youtube automatically adding some random girl doing it to people's subscription list, and with only 1 or 2 videos posted to her channel.
What relies on reporting is shadow banning (excluding Reddit, which uses substantially automates this). Banning people for certain actions also relies on reports, but the rules (or interpretations) does primarily rely on the site and employee's political biases. Different handling depending on targeted race of "hate speech" is interpretation of the rules by staff while banning people for misgendering is a rule created under a political bias.
Companies are working on and improving AI to do reporting of their own, such as YouTube automatically creating transcripts, and using them (or titles) to automatically demonetize videos. The breadth of where they target with this tech will only increase, especially as governments also put in their own specialized requirements. Truth Social also uses the same censorship tech twitter does for its twitter alternative.
I understand and agree with all of this. My point was nitpicking "algorithms have been crafted to do..." as a matter of their original intention.
It's all just projection. That's all that these NPCs can do. They can't even see other people's points of view so they assume everyone else is doing the same evils as they are.
