Ideally, school should teach no values and no ideology. Someone will always be mad that everyone else's children are not being indoctrinated into their own particular flavor.
Either that, or let communities operate their own schools. As long as there is federal money though, there will be federal top-down control.

don't complain, work hard, respect your elders, honor the sacrifices of your ancestors, be grateful for everything you have, control your urges
But really we shouldn't have school at all. We should have extended families and communities that know each other to work together in raising and educating children until the child is a teenager and ready to handle making some life decisions.
The mother's job, with the assistance of aunts and grandmothers, is to handle the infant and toddlers until they are potty trained. After that the boys should go to work with their father, if the father works near home, and the girls should be helping their mother with the household, the other infants, or relatives with their households. Reading, writing, math can all be taught after the workday and by tutors.
If you look at the current elementary and high school curricula you can see there isn't any reason it takes 12! years to teach it. The vast majority of time in public school is just a waste.
