Its her entire personal quest, which is both the longest of all followers by a mile and makes you basically trek to every location in the game. All for random items to assemble a perfect date for her to be lesbian in, as being gay is her entire character development. And as she is your very first follower, you are likely half invested in her by the time it rears its head.
But besides her and most of the game, especially the first world, being a big capitalism bad theme its not unplayable. Just not worth playing over any other game in the genre who did it better years earlier.

It's all company owned and the entire population is just wage slaves who get rationned corporate packages as their only wages. There's no economy at all.
