I solved this particular problem when I was a kid by just learning how to make it myself. Started off simply opening jugs of fruit juice and letting them ferment in the closet and eventually "graduated" to making more proper wines and then beer.
It's less consistent than pitching yeast, but you can end up with something rather tasty at the end. If you're lucky then the yeast out-competes the mold. And when you're a teenager you can't exactly tell your parents "go buy me some Wyeast 1056 so I can make cider from that extra bottle of apple juice we have in the pantry."
