Thanks, the first year was the worst, but after that I gradually just let go. It is my job to love my kids, but not to control them or let them ruin my life. My oldest is totally solid so I have one I can count on. He was unique from day 1. My youngest and his wife are stoners now and we don't see them much because we would not let them use in our house. I am mostly just done with their generation with a few exceptions. I was a tougher parent, but it was lose-lose because they outside world told them not being a pushover is the same as abusive. I am just living my best life.
I had an interesting situation last night, I am a service missionary in a Spanish Speaking congregation. One of the young women said a business was racist. I asked her how she knew and she said they had Trump signs up, I told her I voted for Trump and I could see her head almost explode. One of the other YW spoke up that her uncle voted for Trump. Turns out this YW is not here legally and was just about to get her papers when Trump was elected. She is a wonderful person, but has been going to the dark side politically. I wonder when she will figure out that her parents broke the law. In their situation I would have likely done the same. There are almost zero consequences for it so why not? I can always tell which people, and they are the majority, immigrated legally.
