I have been watching let's plays of Halo Infinite and just saw the news about Sonic. It appears a lot of games are going to be trying for the Breath of the Wild style open world, but with the classic game of their own games. I think this is great. My biggest fear is people will try to mimic bad Ubisoft ideas like I've seen in HI.
What games would you like to see go BotW? I personally want to see Castlevania, or something like it. Of course Castlevania anything would be nice. I have similar feelings about Goemon.
I think Metroid would be a good fit. I've heard Metroid Prime 4 might actually do that.
It looks like Bowser's Fury is pointing in that direction for the next Mario Bros.
Phantasy Star would be amazing.
Those are my ideas, what are yours?
So if we're going to start calling all Open World games "BotW Style", then when can we admit that BotW is just an Assassin's Creed Rip-off in a Zelda skin? Fanboy hate in 3...2.....
(Btw, I'm currently playing BotW for the first time, and I love it).
It's the best Open World game I've played.
What I enjoyed most about BotW's open world format was the feeling of discovery. Instead of following missions markers around, you sort of came upon things naturally.
You need to play Morrowind if you haven't already.
It's one of those games that's been on my list for years.
I think I just keep putting it off because I know what kind of time investment I'm in for. Waiting until I break both my legs and have no excuse. ;-)
Probably because players in the Nintendo eco system never had things like that which have existed for decade on other systems.
