I’m so tired of hearing about white privilege. Are there white people born into wealth and privilege? Yes, but you can say the same for every race since the beginning of time. I’ve known plenty of poor/lower income white people who had to work very hard in life. Since time began there have always been people born into great situations. I would say the biggest privilege that crosses all races is looks. I would say an attractive woman will get a lot of opportunities that an attractive man wouldn’t.
Also you are poisoning the minds of young ones by teaching them that if they fail it’s due to white privilege and you can diminish the success of a white person as well.
The concept of white privilege is an attack on the instution of family. They want to divorce the circumstances of your birth from the decisions made by your parents. It's communism, really.
Put another way: many opportunities are outcomes. If your parents worked and sacrificed to give you a better life, you deserve to have it.
Very true. When I was a kid, my mother insisted we read a certain amount to be able to watch TV. She also had us listen to tapes that taught new vocabulary words and how to remember them whenever we were in the car. As a kid I thought it was all very annoying, but as an adult those things have paid off. Also, I am a voracious reader to this day.
We were middle class, but like you said there is a great value in parents who invest time in their kids. It shouldn't be a bad thing to say the ideal environment for a child is with a loving mother and father.
