Just wanted to give an update so the board knew we are still working on it. The game is a scavenger hunt/hide and seek horror game set in a haunted library.
The vid is about 10 minutes of me getting lost in the library and getting caught by our monster. Gives an overview of the visuals and gameplay. Obviously very much a work in progress.
Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions.
Hi AzureAceStarburst.
I'm glad to see that you're making another game, I wondered if the project had been sidelined.
I still play on console and don't own a PC, so I won't be playing, but it looks good! What made you decide on a horror game?
I had an anxiety nightmare about my high school library aid job where I failed to return the books to the right shelves. This was the night just before the meeting where we discussed the next project so it was still fresh in my head. Not even making this up.
Originally it was going to be based on using the dewey decimal codes for the books but we decided that was too much. It looks like the game will be hard enough as it is.
That's an interesting story behind it. I never have dreams with much value to them. Just random bullshit that I forget a few minutes after I wake up except for one time that really stuck with me.
I think it's best not to make the game too hard, the whole fad of really hard games died a while ago when The Impossible Game faded into obscurity and got de-listed from all platforms.
One time I fell asleep while reading here and had a dream about a Nazi-like matriarchal state starting WW3. That was fun. I can still describe it, they wore black uniforms with pink accents and their armband had a fist crushing a male symbol. They were led by...Ursula Von der Leyen, who you might know is leading the push for vaccine mandates for all.
Was it a dream or a vision of the future EU?
That’s a good one imp! Lol!
Please elaborate. Especially since it won't be utilized.
I like hearing about design ideas.
my original crazy idea was there wouldn't be the section categories but instead dewey decimal number
and the player would have to shelve the book in the correct location on the shelf, scanning one shelf at a time as an animation during which the player was stalled so was vulnerable
but we quickly decided that would be too much, the game will be hard enough just navigating the library
when do we see the swordfighting game where you cut down demons and God thanks you in the cutscenes between chapters
Not going to think on more than one project at a time. That is a recipe for leaving drives full of partially started prototypes in gamedev wreckage.
Awesome work! Great to see!
