Ah yes, saw this on Stupidpol a while ago, ahaha…
So they’re with us on this one, at least! Although they went with “woke corporate” or “woke capitalism”, as their title, lol…
Also, having just been in a (public) hospital, where the signs have literally been written (dual naming, you see), in a made up conlang, based on a bunch of dead, unrelated tribal languages for which we have barely any written records (no joke), in shiny colored lettering…
Yeah, this shit is fucking everywhere, ad it’s both disgusting and disturbing.
Though you’ll be pleased to know that the Catholic private hospital where I visited first was MUCH more immune to all that woke bullshit, lol…
Same city. Largely the same funding. And yet a completely different approach to “le woke”, heh…
Obviously they haven’t been listening to the current Popey poop too much, which is good, lol… 🙄
Wait wait wait, Aussie hospitals have signs in Abo language? Seriously?
In Tassie, at least, yup. They certainly do now… Public one’s at least.
Tassie has been going through an odd period of… Woke “catharsis”, at least since 2007 - 08 (when Labor got elected, federally), so this shit has been ramping up…
I’m quite sure Melbourne would probably have it, too, and perhaps some parts of Brisbane… Guaran-fucking-tee you, though, that if you go out to a poor huwhite part of Tas with a hospital (Burnie), or a poor ethnic part of one of the major cities (Western Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, or Logan in particular in Brisbane), there will be way, way less of it… Because it’s about making the pseudo-woke middle class, in a city like mine, feel better…
You know what’s real funny, though? Pure-blood Tasmanian Aboriginals (and, though they’ll hate me saying this, realistically ALL Tasmanian Aboriginals. The current ones are blow-ins) all died off over 100 years ago. They didn’t leave any written language.
So, my logical point: “Umm, so you’re saying they had no written language??”
Wokie: “No, it was an oral language, with oral traditions!!”
Me: “Ok, so, if that is the case… Why on earth have you written these signs, in a language YOU made up, based on no written records, to translate words that didn’t even exist in their language/s..? Doesn’t that sort of defeat the purpose..?”
Wokie (usually a university-educated white girl): “Umm, umm, bigot! Reeeeeeeee!!!!”
So yup. Clown. Fucking. World. Lol… Even in Australia’s like, Anchorage…
The woke has infected us badly, even (or maybe especially) this far away… 😳
Hahaha that's crazy, it's like if hospitals in my country had signs in whatever the hell Gypsies speak.
I googled the signs in the meantime and you're right. "Ngaagigu Mulunma" apparently means "medical imaging" - but they still write the Abo-speak in Latin letters, and that's just hilarious in a sad kind of way.
Did it tell you what state/language that was in..?? Because palawa kani, the Tasmanian blended conlang, is all written in lowercase, for some stupid reason that I’ve never seen adequately explained… 😅
Makes it fucking hilarious when they’re trying to do, say, dual naming of a place…
Essentially looks like: single aboriginal word/Multiple word English name (usually Mount something, or River something)…
I’ll try to take a photo of the signs in outpatients, today, if I can do a sneaky, and post it here for you! So you can see what the ones in Shitholebart look like, lol…
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for an even wilder ride, Google Māori conlang on The Spectator site, or look up the Ulster Scots signs they have in Northern Irish hospitals…
The latter is 👌🏻 *chef’s kiss” peak woke.
There’s some posts about it in the NorthernIreland/Belfast subs on Reddit, both defending it and attacking it for how utterly ridiculous it reads and sounds…
Very much like if your country (Schweitz, I’m guessing, then??) had the signs in Gypsy/Romansh, as you say, though perhaps even worse in this case, as it just looks like corrupted English!! 😂
Hah, that's hilarious. Can't wait for the photo!
I can't really fault hospitals in, for example, Belfast, for including the original language. You know what, I've been to Ireland, and they even have landmarks on roadsigns in both English and Gaelic. I kinda like it, Gaelic is a cool language - it's completely fucking incomprehensible (and I say that as someone who kinda understands Polish), but it's cool. Abo-speak though? Fuck that, I do think it's worth preserving because it's still information, even if it's retarded, but... it's retarded. Same for the Romani language.
I'm not from the Schweitz, I'm Czech. Not too far away though, and we have some things in common, like firearms.
Ah yes, I see your point, but oh no, it’s not (Irish) Gaelic I’m talking about here, my friend. They don’t like Gaelic, so much (this IS Belfast, remember!), although some signs may also be in it…
No, no, this is Plantation Scots. This is a language that only came to Ulster in the 1600s, when the Crown sent over thousands of Protestant Scottish Lowlands (mostly) settlers, to “breed out” the locals…
It has SOME roots in Scottish Gaelic, but it’s really just a dialect of English…
Like, imagine someone with a thick Scottish accent speaking English. Now imagine you decided to write down what they were saying, while mimicking the accent. That’s what Scots, and by extension Plantation Scots, is…
So you therefore have signs written in English, sometimes (real) Gaelic, and then something that looks like they were having a laugh, while mocking people with Scottish accents. I’m deadly serious. Look it up, lol.
There was a scandal a few years ago where it turned out that the Scots Wikipedia was almost entirely written by one young American bloke, with too much time on his hands, using translation software… It blew up everywhere, including on Reddit…
Also worth a Google, if you’re bored! 😅
Gah, I had a whole comment written about a mad Polish-Czech girl I dated once, that you would have found funny, but I can’t even work my phone, today, with my eyes/death brain… 😑
I’ll get back to you with that, in addition to the photos, lol!
Though I have to have a shit-tonne of more medical shit done today, so it might take me until at least tomorrow your time, if I don’t recover very quickly…
Apologies in advance for that, ha. 😒
*Edit, apparently Gypsy-speak is Romani, which is not the same as Romansh…
Fucking confusing, amirite? 🤦🏻♂️
They’re even completely different language groups/roots, which is even better… Ah, English, lol…
