Human societies are really screwed up. The people who produce the least in terms of value (actual goods and services) and the most amount of hysteria and noise are the ones with the power while the people who actually make/keep society functional by producing real goods and services are the ones with no institutional power.
And don't get me wrong, I am in no way at all a socialist or left leaning person. I just see things for what they are, upside down and backwards.
You need a lot of free time and ideally spare resources to learn how to manipulate and exploit people for profit, and there's very little room at the top. Time spent producing things yourself and being self sufficient is time spent losing ground to your competitors in the world of power brokerage
