I don't consider "me like mainstream politician :]" flags to be the same phenomenon. That's just human nature. They want to belong to a "team". To those people it's really no different from cheering for a sports team.
Also, there hasn't really been a right wing version of BLM or antifa in a very long time. Probably a solid 50 years, minimum. But yes, when the KKK was still active, people who had "I love the KKK" signs in their yard would have absolutely qualified as this type of person.
