"I was reincarnated as Kerrigan, Queen of Blades, but due to copyright reasons, changed my name, and also I'm a loli"
Actual light novel, by the by. Not the name, but the plot.
The biggest difference between the East and West isn't in naming conventions or weirdness of the setup, it's that Eastern stories aim to tell a story, while Western ones aim to sell a character, generally speaking. The priority is all wrong, they don't care about the story, plot, whathaveyou, they care about only the character... And the way they "care" is to make them Sock Juice Bingo.
I think the main difference in the industry is in Japan you have thousands of people using their creativity and writing all kinds of interesting and original stories. There are probably lots of terrible ones, but the cream rises to the top. The publishing industry selects the ones that will sell the most to distribute the most.
In the US you have a small number of consolidated industry gatekeepers, Marvel, DC, Diamond, and they're really bad at it, and attack their customers and competitors instead of getting good. Nobody with any sense wants to work with them.

They don't care about the character either.
They do, but just not in the way anyone would ever want. They care very much that it is that specific character they're destroying.
