Just today I read that there's a proposal in Germany to add an extra "green tax" (on top of existing carbon taxes) of 0.7 EUR per liter to gasoline and diesel. That's about an extra dollar, per liter, not gallon, in taxes. To put it in US terms, it's an extra $3.77 per gallon, just in this extra tax alone. The justification is that they're not meeting the decarbonization criteria they put on themselves a few years ago. Coming soon to a country near you.

Yet the US was even when we weren’t part of their treaty to tax us out of existence…
It's not even related to the Paris Accords if that's what you mean - western nations are doing all sorts of garbage like this on their own.
