If you go back and watch Thor and Thor: The Dark World, it's abundantly, ridiculously obvious that Natalie Portman wants, more than anything else in the entire world, to not be in those movies. She has clearly never hated anything more in her entire life.
I wonder how much money Disney offered her to change her mind, and why.

This is likely the main reason as the MCU was still kind of taking off back in Thor 1. Since then it [peaked] is now worth far more money so she's perked up at the idea of reprising her role was more than anything stands out in the first film for her line of;
"Oh.
My.
God."
Except it's so deadpan it's a totally shit delivery.
Also remember that at the end of Thor 2 that kiss Thor has isn't with Portman because she'd already left the studio at that point. It was Hemsworth's actual wife standing in, the busty blonde from Fast 5/6/7 in the Fast and the Furious franchise.
Yeah, but the thing about DeNiro is that he has a good enough deadpan delivery that he can totally play the straight man in a comedy movie (see: Meet the Parents) or potentially play it off as being dry humor. Natalie Portman has about as much range as a petrified statue covered in hot grits.

She's overrated, imo.
Most of her career was character acting in dramas. Her doing action movies is like Deniro doing comedy.

I meant why would Disney want her back, not why would she go back.
