Seems to be mixed. Allegedly she existed and the USSR obv used her for propaganda, but the USSR also lied about her being the common representative of the army and often hyped women like her up to appear even more fearsome.

"309 confirmed kills" by I can't find any information saying how those kills were confirmed. Interesting.
