My guess is South Africa has a lot of theft, which is why Samsung has this shit in their TVs there. Probably does not exist in American TVs.

I know everyone would love to stick it to the 13/50 and all but you all need to look at the long term implications of this.
A fucking company has the ability to block you from using a piece of hardware at their whim. Forest for the trees folks - go ahead and shut down the stolen shit but this also implies that companies are looking into this in the future and it will be used elsewhere.
