Spiderman games all play like Spiderman games since Spiderman 2 20 years ago. If you played the 2018 one, you've probably had your fill of the gameplay.
Which only leaves the story as the draw, which is just generic "black people stuff" as far as they told us in the last game. And that wasn't worth buying a PS5 for at scalper prices because they pushed hard the PS5 version to the point most people didn't know it was on PS4.
Don't forget the huge mural of George Floyd the drug-addicted criminal.
wait... they actually have George Floyd's mural IN THE GAME?
Ultimate had Venom playable, which was different. Felt like Hulk/Prototype.
Which you had to beat the actually quite long game to unlock outside specific missions. 3/4th of said story being Spiderman 2 again like two years later.
But that's probably the best of the games entirely and a lot of that is that Venom option.
Web of Shadows is the best Spider-Man game.
The story was weak and notably shorter than the 2018 game. Miles just isn't interesting despite the (op) new abilities and they had to reinvent an old B-list villain (Tinkerer) to give him something to do. Between missions it's all charity work and helping mom campaign for city council, which is boring as shit. He was written from the ground up as a copycat and his story is every bit as deep as that could lead to. Top it off with a generic rich white corporate villain unapologetically destroying precious Harlem and you have the whole picture.
He never was, his personality from the comic onset was "black people problems, but also spiderman" which is generic and cliche by now.
This was a problem with 2018 too with "Mr. Negative" but they at least made that one work.
