covid in 2020, double phizer vaxxed, and is hospitalized with delta variant as we speak.
ie: Vaccine doesn't work against delta variant, therefore, all covid infections will soon be delta variant, therefore, vax will soon be useless and we'll be back where we started again, cue another updated vax for the delta variant that will produce the same result aaaaand repeat a few times and we've created the human answer to Marek's disease, where the virus is 100% fatal to the unvaxxed.
It's strange but in Britain we seemed to have a different attitude towards the vaccine. I don't know anyone who thought of it as a miracle cure like so many across the world do. It was always more of a "take the edge off it/turn two weeks of misery into a few days of sniffles/stops the wrinklies getting slaughtered" thing for most of us and that was good enough.
Flu jab doesn't stop you getting flu, but good grief it takes the edge of it. Again "turning two weeks of misery into a few days of sniffles" is a good enough sell for me.

Sadly I think you are exactly right

Seemingly everyone in America incorrectly thinks the vaccine prevents you from contracting the virus. Probably because it's called a vaccine.
My coworker practically had a shouting match with me when I said that.
