But I enjoyed the 80s slasher stuff like Friday the 13th or Elm Street. Halloween was good too. These new ones just beat you over the head. I only saw purge election year and that was enough for me
I’m a horror cinephile, the 80s ones were just as woke in a different way. Every big horror movie from the 80s was feminine propaganda. It became the running joke of horror movies, the trope the “final girl”, and the basis of movies that use that fact. Cabin in the Woods, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, and even Final Girls are all good horror movies that exist entirely in reverence to the trope.
