It's funny they act like living in New York makes them unique when, by definition, it makes them the opposite. If you were to choose 100 random Americans, the odds are that 2 - 3 of them would be from New York City. As long as you don't live in one of the 12 most populous states, living in your state is more unique than living in New York City.
It's funny when you think of it, countrywide they're are assholes going "It's not me, it's this nowhere place I'm in and when I move to New York where people are interesting!" only it's mostly people with very similar but different stories all moving there like some kind of national gutter running into a drain
Too true, but how many? Because I'm pretty most of the people who are born there in years past got priced out of the area like my family so the 'natives' are all from the upper crust and mostly from the jet-set types who might only live there a portion of the time beside the point.

Well, there must be some people who are born and raised in the city, but I suspect you're right about most of them.
