Apparently, having doubts about the wisdom of libel as a customer relations strategy means that you are in fact the libelled author themselves, perhaps just a poorly-written alt.

Just guessing from their 2019 attendance and the current membership prices, they have somewhere around 8500*$225 = $1.9 million a year. But I have no idea what it costs to book a convention center for that number of people. Looking through this years con website, they seem to have an obligation of $500,000 if they break contract with the hotel hosting. I'm guessing that means they they have to pay the hotel some amount more than that but not more than double that amount once the event actually happens. That leaves around $1 million left for everything else.
It's a small victory, but a victory none the less. I bet John Scalzi is having a breakdown over this.
