Even the diehard playerbase willing to pay full game price for just more of the same with a different bow on top will get bored of that formula eventually and the interest will dry up more and more on each iteration

Hell, even I'm guilty of buying repetitive games, I've bought every F1 game since 2010. That's 10 years of the exact same game over and over. The only reason I don't already have this year's pre-ordered is because EA own the license this year and I'm boycotting them.
Actually, pretty much everywhere but North America and Asia buys those games obsessively. There's a reason they make enough money to subsidize all the godawful propaganda pieces and poorly thought out flops.

Most of which are to South America. The same way NFL/NBA games are almost entirely to blacks.
These are specific markets that are not representative of the mainstream or whole.

I'd consider North America and Asia the majority of the mainstream for video games if we are being honest.
