It would have been relatively easy to stab or shoot Hitler, but it would not have prevented Goebbels or Goering from taking power immediately afterward without a proper coup.

So you just need three gunmen.

The conspirators were cowards who didn't want to die.

This is how the game of thrones is played, you discard the top card until you get the one you want. In the end the pile of discards is a lot smaller than the inevitable orgy of mob violence that marks the end of every democracy in history.

That literally doesn't change the problem. More gunmen does not fix this, in fact, it would make it worse.
