Was jar Jar really supposed to be a Sith? I loved the prequels. Jar Jar was a little overkill but still liked movies. I’ll never watch the sequels again.
Jar Jar was meant to be the comic trope for the kids to enjoy. A lot of kids did indeed enjoy Jar Jar Binks. Episode One was both a telling of the story that Lucas promised decades prior and also a chance to capture a new generation of fans who likely got their first tastes of the story with the remasters that were issued a few years prior.
Even without all the hatred that spawned toward Binks, his shift to the sidelines in Episode 2 and 3 felt organic at least, given that the second and third acts of the trilogy were more serious in tone and nature.
