I mean, I very much feel sorry for many of the individuals who get caught up in this shit, but at the same time it's interesting to think about the evolutionary impact.
There has never, ever, been a time in recorded or known human history when non-heterosexuality has been so accepted (promoted) nor when being transgender was so accepted (promoted) along with surgeries that cause sterilization (maybe hijra in India).
Think about how many LG(not b)T people will not reproduce now vs 100 years ago when many tried to "pass" or were repressed.
This could be one of the largest evolutionary shifts based on voluntarily sexual selection that's ever occurred.
If there truly is a large genetic component to being LGBT, the LGBT population could be dramatically and rapidly reduced if LGBT people stop having so many kids. If it's mostly environmental, mostly choice, etc., not so big an impact.
I would agree with you, but a lot of FtM transgenders are extremely adamant about having children in order to prove that "men can get pregnant, too". You also see gays using surrogates to have children, which is honestly grotesque; your own sexuality precludes reproduction, so you just rope in a progressive white female friend (the only demographic who rent out their wombs) to help? Awesome - now she gets to intensely bond with a child of her own loins before chucking it to two gay dudes who are more likely to molest.
I absolutely agree with you on that... A friend of mine is a lesbian who used IVF to get pregnant. That absolutely happens. If I had to speculate, I would guess that many fewer LGT people are having kids today than in past years. I've known plenty of gay guys who had zero interest in having kids (and some who did want kids, tbf).
Additionally, for Trans who transitioned as children or teens, even if they later detransition, sterility or lack of sexual functioning may make biological parenthood impossible. Since trans surgery didn't exist before ~50 years ago and the number of trans-identified people has skyrocketed only in the last decade or so, this may take a little while to trick down to numbers, but I bet it's significant.
Friends with a lesbian? Really? Are you insane or just a woman yourself?
Haha. I can't say if it's just my experience, but most of the older lesbians I've met (say age 40+) have been pretty damn chill. No weird hair colors, no problem glasses, just dykes. I know several who are small business owners and who are not even particularly liberal OTHER THAN on sexuality-related issues. Not bad people to just have a beer with.
It seems the younger bi-lesbian-nonbinary whatever crowd are the real manhaters.
Actually, one caveat. Older lesbians who were (are) straight but kept failing in relationships with men until they finally hit the wall and then decided they are actually lesbians and are now in probably sexless relationships where they can just bitch about men and younger women -- they're actually the worst. THE WORST.
