In a dojo where men are told to hold back and to pull their punches when sparring women, you are not allowed to refer to women as delicate and flimsy, which they are, because that is demeaning and chauvinistic.
Oh the 90s. The naïveté.
The majority of MMA/self defence courses are trash and thrive on customers who don't know a damn thing about actually fighting to question their poor teaching. Of course they're going to advertise hard at the demographic least likely to have any prior practical knowledge.
And women are the type to think taking martial arts makes them safe, without the prerequisite getting swole and a gun. So its almost pure placebo for them.
This is why I appreciate that my instructor offers actual sparring. Nothing like real stress testing of all those techniques you've been taught.
"Hands up, mouth shut, chin down" is some real shit.
This is a nice time capsule.
Oddly enough both the far right and far left would at least entertain this question nowadays.
This is fringe language in 2021. If a man said that about women he'd be unpersoned.
