As every stock trader app ad will tell you : "Past performance doesn't guarantee future results."
If something has been true for all of human history, it's quite unlikely that it will suddenly change. If a stock has been rising since 250,000 BC until this very moment, I'd bet on it.
Just because things were okay at one point, doesn't mean they are now or ever will be again.
But I am not talking about 'things'. I agree that 'things' are messed up. Claims about the inherent trustworthiness or untrustworthiness of half the population (either half) are not about that though. Human nature does not change on a whim.
But you have to factor in that a lot of human history had various constraints on people's true feelings about their opposite number. Women depended on men for financial support, men depended on women for childcare and housework. It could be that this generation is the first one where those constraints no longer exist, and our independence from each other has allowed true feelings to come out.
Such feelings are unlikely to be 'true feelings' and more 'feelings shaped by society as it is'. Not to mention that men who hate women and vice versa are a tiny minority. They may be dominant on Twitter, but in real life, almost impossible to find.
