The commission is a way to kick the can down the road and say to their base “We’re looking into it.” They know it would open a can of worms that they could not control if actual communists (not these champagne communists/make believe socialist) get ahold of it.
Unlimited expansion is an incredible threat to the current power structure. Dems and Reps woudl not benefit from expanding it. All it takes is one crazy wave of populists and the entire structure is compromised.
Theyre panicking pretty goddamned hard over the voter ID laws, i still don't have much hope for future elections but... something tells me they realized they went way overboard and people noticed.
It isn't unlimited expansion. Any additional judges right now would be incredibly Machiavellian. There is a risk them weilding the near unlimited power of the court to crown themselves, since there is an obvious vacuum right now.
Imagine if they ruled that every politician's private property was owned by the people.
