I loved the Big Bang Theory but sometimes I feel like it was a double edged sword because that was when, at least in my memory, “nerd stuff” started being cool and mainstream. I always laugh at how people proudly call themselves nerds since it’s trendy or as a lifelong comic book reader someone who watches some MCU movies and thinks they are an expert in comic books.
I honestly miss the days when reading comic books, sci fi, or being a fan of Star Wars/Star Trek was something you got made fun of for.
Anyone think these hobbies will ever be niche again?
Edit: the more I think about the show, I’m reminded of someone who said that Big Bang Theory was a minstrel show for nerd culture.
The thing I hated most about that show was how much they all idolised that waste of space waitress.
Yes, yes, username checks out and whatever else, but that was so odd when you think about it. They were successful men, idolizing a fuck up woman who was literally worthless.
Were you there when some wombyn eceleb said she would cross the street to avoid gaymers.
I wish they had kept avoiding us. Would have been better than now, where they take over everything and brag about it for a day a year.
I have actually noticed that. Makes so many things unwatchable because I notice it so much more now I know what the agendas behind it are.
Very good point
It's as if you just discovered this pesky thing called 'evolution'.
Do you hear yourself speak, gay boy?
