You're tight lipped because you're afraid of being called a Nazi, a white supremacist. You're too cowardly to act because "mug optics". Now even your neighbors or your immediate family members would rat you out if you said something that doesn't align the party's ideology. You're going to be banned using major services for supporting the "wrong" candidate.
Do you want to know where I've heard that before? Right. North Korea, China's Cultural Revolution, Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia, Fidel Castro's regime in Cuba.
It makes me feel physically ill. Morale is definitely down and I'm unsure of how to plan for the future given all the uncertainty of what will happen. Is there even going to be a country in a few years from now? If everything's going to unravel do I stay put and ride it out here or should I try to reposition myself to a better location? Do I invest in real estate or will that just get seized? Is the stock market globalized enough to the point where I can store wealth in it and have it ride out the storm there?
Not having a road map for how to fight back against this slow crushing weight that never escalates to open warfare is what's really getting me down though. My outlook would be considerable less grim if I knew of a way to contribute to pushing back against this in a more meaningful way.
Storing and accessing any wealth you may have, is a gigantimous problem these days.
Having had my home and land, forcibly annexed once and forcibly rezoned another time, I gave up on that fantasy 20 years ago. They just take what they want and you get to make the payments. Not to mention many places that are more than happy to tax you right out of your house.
I think having a nice stash of emergency cash is good. Also maybe keeping some swiss francs that seem to hold their value.
Small gold coins are nice, I'm not into cryptos, gems are good but a dangerous and cutthroat business.
The gun trade seems to be booming, that could be a great investment ;^ If you can't hold it, you don't own it.
I'm just doing my best to do ok for myself, losing weight, and hoping I have the courage to act when the time comes.
I just hope I notice when that time arrives.
We'll keep you posted. The dragon is definitely on the doorstep.
I'd invest in local community, self improvement, NFTs & crypto, 3D printing and manufacturing, then tangible goods.
Local community is by far the most important, even if that's a small cluster of friends that you know is sane. Then you have a group that can take care of each other if anything happens.
