If America loses wars, it's only by setting themselves unattainable standards for victory. Crushing your enemy and overthrowing their government in days with 10:1 kill ratios would be considered victory in any other war, and even that's America going easy on them. They could literally have won the war in Afghanistan in 30 minutes with zero casualties while achieving their strategic objectives.
Plus, that's an incorrect-ass statement.
The US' win to loss ratio on conflicts is weighted very heavily towards the W's.
The current "War on Terror", if they're even calling it that any longer, is a deliberately ceaseless quagmire that exists only to fill the coffers of those in the Military-Industrial Complex and their adjacent beneficiaries.
Victory was never an intended outcome.
Crushing a bunch of goatherds with jamming AK-47s isn't exactly something to brag about though. The Soviet Union managed to overthrow the Afghan government as well, but never managed to stay and win.
Why stay? We don't want Afghanistan, we just wanted the Taliban dead.
Afghanistan kills empires. The moment we got embroiled in that goatrope of a region, we were screwed.
I hope China fucks around over there soon enough; it'd be funny.
