Hate to break it to you, but Millenials make up the largest Facebook user base in the US, Canada, Europe...and Australia. Boomers make up less than 15%.
That's like saying millenials are the largest user base of bebo (currently dead, yes planned revival).
As for boomers making less than 15% only because they're now the dying generation.
Both of you also forget that GenX exist and use FB too. (guarantee a lot will claim the meme of "we don't do mainstreeem" but remember they're 40 somethings now.)
Facebook going in large.
But somehow it seems counterproductive to ban your own audience? Wouldn't that reduce the number of users? Just conclusion leaping here.
I cannot imagine why anyone would seriously use facebook as a news source anyway.
Less counterproductive than being billed by the Australian government for every Australian news link posted on your site.
The boomers that are still using FB are the same people that still consume MSM content

Userbase. != actual active users.

They're not reducing their number of users, they're isolating them within their network.
As impossible said, they simply want them to pay revenue on ads/promoted content and they're skirting the rules on it.
It's like the Chinese version of Facebook, but for Australians!
