If your synopsis is more or less the case, the article's argument sounds like utopianism and whataboutism. Just because something fails to magically solve all problems doesn't mean it needs to be condemned.
I can cheer on some diamond hand stonk apes while realizing there are also many other issues with society. If the argument really does come down to 'this doesn't solve everything,' no shit. I'm still not siding with the hedge funds against the autists.
I'm "concerned about our dying society" in exactly the same way as I'm concerned about someone who's just had their head chopped off: there's nothing I can do to solve the problem, and even if there was I'm not sure I'd want to.

That's why communism always magically solves everything. Everything else just isn't up to par and thus can be dismissed. Just embrace communism.
