While I don't think it's actually targeted demoralization propaganda, the idea that things must get worse before they can get better has come to serve the same purpose as demoralization propaganda. It lays out the notion that there's nothing we can do right now to fix things, that we must continue to endure these hardships until some undefined point in the future where some backlash will magically manifest. I reject this premise and posit that we have already reached and passed the point where the populace at large should have provided some sort of extreme rejection of the abuse it is being subjected to. If we continue to parrot the idea that "things must get worse", then things will only continue to get worse. It will continue for years, decades, generations, until the people enduring the abuse are those who never knew what came before and how much better things could be. The Soviet Union was a shitshow for decades; Is that the timeframe we want to entertain for how much worse things must get before they can get better?
It's all just an abdication of the responsibility to correct the situation ourselves.
People are remarkably tolerant of abuse. Look at spousal abuse stats, 55% of abused people are male, yet not one single male abuse victim shelter because they just tolerate it. Men are the primary players in politics, and they will suffer a LOT for no reason.
Yes.
Let me tell you a story. It's a story about four brothers, named "Somebody", "Anybody", "Everybody", and "Nobody". Everybody needed Anybody to do a task, but Nobody volunteered to do it. Despite this, Somebody eventually wound up doing it, and complained that Anybody and Everybody could have done it easily, but he still was forced to do it himself, because it was always like that, Everybody complains about something and yells "Anybody, please do something!". Nobody steps up to the plate, and the whole situation is a failure, so Somebody has to interfere and fix all the things Anybody could have done, but doesn't, despite Everybody's wishes. Nobody loves to help, but that never works out well, Somebody is always left picking up the slack.
Everybody, who is you in the metaphor by the by, is ultimately waiting for Somebody to do something, because while Anybody and Everybody could do it, Nobody is volunteering. And Everybody will continue to wait until the end of time, because Nobody is volunteering.
The wait will be long, not because of rising pressure or shitshow degree, but because Anybody and Everybody are expecting Somebody, not them, to do something, and until Somebody does, Nobody will try to make a difference.
Well, that's not entirely accurate. IIRC someone opened a shelter for battered men once, and feminists shut it down and drove the founder to suicide - because feminism wants to help men too, you see.
It's happened more than once, but they never stay open long. Another one tried it but got their dogs murdered for it alongside follow-up threats of greater action, too. Because feminism good, so murder the puppies. But it was mostly a throwaway line.
