His pathetic sheep stans still claim that was deep. I swear to god, I don't blame artists for going nihilistic when they can do any disgusting shit and the semi literate fauxtellectual class will eat it up.
That's the funny thing about King. Somehow literary circles tricked themselves into pretending that King is a literary writer that writes deep social commentary instead of what he actually is, a genre writer that got insanely popular.
Now, I'm not saying that King is a bad writer. He is(really was) very good at what he does within his genre, he's just not a literary writer.
However, he is long past his prime of being relevant and his writing has not been good in decades. Honestly, once he became sober he lost the ability to be a good storyteller, but luckily for him he still had hordes of fans and a name to live off that kept his books selling.
I've read a few of his books, and honestly I'm not convinced he's a great writer. Seems kinda like he's got a few tricks he just re-skins for his next book, with a lot of super boringly detailed paragraphs thrown in to help.
Maybe King should stick to what he knows, like writing fapfics about a bunch of 12 year olds having an orgy in a sewer.

His shorter books are much better than his longer ones.
