So I keep seeing people compare this to the Reichstag Fire, as a means of Trump attaining Hitlerian power.
But the result is completely opposite.
Democrat officials are calling for the expulsion of several, if not every, Republican representative. Anyone who objected to the vote ratification is looking down the barrel of whatever process the Democrats invent to 'hold them accountable'.
Everyone is calling for everyone involved to be hunted down by the FBI and jailed or killed, including people who have been wanting the police defunded this whole time.
I don't think this was a false flag, Trump Supporters definitely entered the building. But it very well may have been a trap, and if not a deliberate one, then one on which they've capitalized. I'm not going to argue taking the high road for the optics, because the events of this week haven't introduced any new characterizations to the narrative, they were already saying all these things.
If this was Reichstag, it wasn't for Trump.
Wait... people are saying it was a Reichstag Fire for Trump?
Jesus, I was so focused on the obvious calls for retaliation and consolidation of power from the establishment goons after the fact, that I didn’t even entertain that anyone would blatantly think this was done as a last-ditch effort by Trump.
I know the programming runs deep, but man, the mental gymnastics...
Some cunning and devious spiders realized that a large swath of humanity is gullible and/or stupid enough to not be capable of grasping the lessons Hilter & the 3rd reich should have taught them. It wasn't "nazis bad" & "jews are special", it was "question your leadership" & "scapegoating is always nefarious".
Maybe the real reason history repeats itself is because there is always a high proportion of the human population that require others to tell them what their morality and stance should be for any given situation.
There’s a lesson I learned much later than I should have: Humans are inherently tribal by nature, and most need a leader (a chieftain) and a familiar group (a tribe) to function.
The church, for example, is one of the most well-known and contentious of tribes. The vapid complain of the church as solely being exploitative — Newsflash! All human-led groups are exploitative; look at government — but at least the Church keeps people honest and decent.
Without fail, when man forgets God man falls, because whatever takes God’s place inevitably leads man down a dark path.
And I say this as someone who up until pretty recently was not the biggest supporter of the church.
Just consider that SocJus is all of the dogma of the church with none of the morality, and the need for religion as a guiding force becomes clear.
....kinda went on a tangent with that one, but, y’know... people need a good group influence and a strong leader, or their actions devolve into shit.
I completely agree.
I am by no means atheist, although I would never dream to attempt to explain what the unknowable "God" might be.
I don't completely fault atheists for hating religion. Organized religion functions just like non-religious organizations and ends up being corrupted from within.
Yet, I will say something for the atheists reading this thread. There is a reason so many religions and cultures across history have some form of lesson or story on an endless cycle of death & rebirth/creation & destruction. Our societies may turn from God, but when the chips are down they will go crawling back.
The reason history repeats itself is because Leftists don't learn and keep repeating the same mistakes because "x has never been tried" Socialists, Progressives, Communists, Fascists, National Socialists, Democratic Socialists, Social Democrats, Trade Unionists, etc, etc.
The same people, do the same shit, but different labels, and claim that what they're doing hasn't been tried.
The republicans are about to be fucking Sulla'd and Lindsey Graham apparently thinks he'll be spared because he's establishment or something.
Could be he's simply old. He has his money, he isn't going to risk what little life he has left.
I think the younger members of the GOP fall neatly into three categories:
a handful of patriots struggling with the realization that we have no institutional power whatsoever
careerist politicians who will go along to get along no matter what
democrats in conservative clothing, eagerly seizing any opportunity to go against the constituents they actually hate
I don't see how all of this doesn't lead to the rise of a nationalist populist third party, and I foresee big tech and establishment government shredding the last bits of the Constitution in order to prevent that third party from rising to power.
And who suffers the most when the proscriptions begin? It's always the plebeians and the poor fucking infantry.
For that exact same reason, I think that the people who today cheer violence against "Nazis" would be, had they lived during that time, cheering on Kristallnacht.
Everyone imagines themselves as the hero; however, heroic figures are only idolized because of their incredible rarity. We can't all be right when bragging about saving the day.
When taking the time to self-reflect, I only see how pathetic I am for not having the courage to step forward and risk becoming a martyr. Not being a braggart isn't enough.
