Trump has enough money that he can (and should) start serious funding for alternative platforms.
He's too old to be president again, but he can do a lot of good by playing kingmaker for nationalism. The problem is he's consistently made bad staffing choices over his presidency -- So I really don't expect him to do a good job in a post-presidency role either.
This would be the correct way to go about it. He still has his fuck you money, and now that the right-populist/nationalist movement is out of the bottle good luck trying to shove that back in.
One can hope. Even if his own money is tied up in non-liquid assets, he raised literally hundreds of millions of dollars since November. The Nationalist movement doesn't have a lot of coastal billionaires, but it's got working class, middle-class, and upper-middle-class wealth in droves. It's fully possible to see a Trump-funded payment processor, social media site(s), and buy out of RSBN, OANN or Newsmax.
With that done Trump could move to take over the R party by funding & organizing local races. As much as a lot of us probably feel like R is a badly tainted brand, it's the sports team with the most legacy team spirit, so probably better to try to take it over than pursue a Bull Moose strategy.
Yep, he has the fuck you money he needs and he has a strong and VERY loyal base (even despite this meltdown).
I do feel sorry for these poor bastards that whipped themselves into a frenzy deifying Trump. I know GEOTUS was a bit tongue in cheek of them but their worship of him as a person rather than the idea was their downfall. Ignoring his shortcomings and seeing how those shortcomings were going to bite them all in the ass... many people should've seen this coming.
I do like the fact out of all this RSBN, OANN, and Newsmax have joined the Populist Right, along with parts of the New York Post. That's the only "white pill"/silver lining I can see out of all this. They kicked the guy they hate out, but the guy they hate has a shitload of money that can keep this thing going.
