In a totalitarian government - truth is punishable.
I'd like to hear the explaination of why this is different from the CCP arresting people for filming overflowing hosptials, or if they think we should be different.
I had someone IRL tell me "the difference between the actions of some third-world dictator and our government is our government is acting out of a genuine concern for its people".
The government held me hostage for most of my childhood and told me he wasn't like those other those other guys; he cared. Why would he lie to me you whore?
The irony is the person who told me this grew up in what the West would consider a "third-world dictatorship" (in fact the US bombed his neighborhood when he was a child) and should know better. Despite having seen many people become Woke the completeness of the transformation of the person's entire being still surprises me.
The Chinese ones were PSYOPS to panic the west into destroying themselves. This is the west panicking to cover up the tragic mistake their original panic was.
