I find it incredibly difficult to believe that some people genuinely think it's "the most serious human rights issue of our time", or that abortion results in a person being killed.

People used to bomb abortion clinics and kill doctors who performed them: that is behavior consistent with a genuine belief it is "the most serious human rights issue of our time".
